Hi everyone. Great to be here. Lifelong biker and over recent years been travelling to Europe. I am currently secretary of the 22nd Riders of the Cheshire Regiment which helps ex-military to acclimatise to civilian life. Looking to get the group back into Europe in 2024 mainly France and Belgium and then later to Bosnia and beyond. I am currently riding a Triumph Sprint ST1050.

Hello Fernando, to the club! It's great to see that there are still some real tourers who find their way here. You must be lucky to have such a great biking area in your backyard. I am looking forward to meeting you somewhere on the road - at the latest on the Balkans tour.

Let's see if I can revive this thread. I'm Fernando, and I live in Switzerland. I always rode choppers, and being back on the hobby after a 12 year hiatus, I decided now that my kids are all grown up, I'll take it up again, but with the idea of making much longer trips. So I just got a Yamaha FZ1N. These are my last 2 bikes: my eldest daughter (around 10 at the time, now 21) is sitting on a Drag Star. In the second pic, I'm on a road stop on my way to the Grand Canyon (from back when we lived in the US). I'm currently planning a week-long trip around the balkans (Lubljana, Zagreb, Belgrade, Sarajevo, back through the Croatian coast). Looking forward to reviving the forum a bit. Cheers ! Attachments:

Howdy Y'all. My name is Marc and my Wife is Marlene. We're old members that some of you may remember. We lived in Bavaria for 25 years and were members of this great group for many many years. We currently live in Texas and still ride. Our current bike is a Goldwing 1800 trike, all white. We tried to reconnect on the board but it didn't recognize us so we have signed up again. We follow you on your trips through facebook. Great to see so many faces we still know. I'll post some pics as I find them. Till then, M&M.

Home base Franconia - I can't imagine who brought you in. A guy named Jochen. He told me that the "old ones" will know him! Nevertheless I'm looking to make it possible coming to Ebrach.

Hi Harald, welcome on board of this bunch of geezers. It seems that you have the heart on the northern side too. Orkney, woah, this is still on my list. I guess we must talk some day. Home base Franconia - I can't imagine who brought you in. Nonetheless, do we see you on the meeting in September? Good luck with your new bike. I am looking forward to meeting you soon.

This is a personal request again to all members! Please read rule 6 of the MTCE forum once again: "Please try to stay on-topic. Unrelated conversations should be moved to a NEW thread, to preserve the purpose of the original thread." Yes we should have a relaxed climate here at the forum with plenty of space for humor, fun and seriousness. There is enough room for that in all corners of the forum! But please do not continue to dilute ALL subjects

It is always good to review your policies once in a while and make sure they are up to date! Therefore we want to inform all of you that the Board has updated our MTCE Forum Behavior Policy as you can see on the posting in this thread. It is a commonly used policy on forums with some minor adaptions to our specific purpose. We feel that these 10 rules are clear and to the point. That is not without reason. We feel that a forum in general should be a pleasant and informative place to visit. As a board we feel very responsible to secure that climate. Continue to enjoy your time on the MTCE Forum

My name is ingemar, from Sweden.. I have been member in this club since 2006 and have enjoyed many of our meetings in different places around Europe together with my wife.. To meet people with different backgrounds and from different countries but with similar interests are to us the best experiences. The idea with a non brand club is a great thing.. What kind of bike we ride doesn´t matter.. The tours together are the only important thing.. So... Jump in and join us.. You will be welcomed

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about our club, if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask them hereWhat is the main focus of the club? | Although we have a very active forum here, the main objective of the club is to enjoy our hobby with very good friends dispersed across the whole of Europe. This we do through 3 meetings which are organised each year | Do you have to attend the meetings? | There's no obligation to join the meetings but most members try to attend as many as possible as not only are they the central focus of the club but are also great fun. | Is there any financial consideration? | There are absolutely no joining or membership fees at all. At the meetings, sometimes it is decided to buy a small gift for a host or maybe token gifts for members of a local bike club that may host us or something. These are funded on a purely voluntary basis by the attendees of the meeting so again there is no obligation to participate. | If my wife/partner wants to come with me, does she have to join the club? | Because we don't have membership fees, we don't need to control who is a member so strictly. Some wives/partners have their own login to the forum and actively participate, others attend the meetings but don't bother with the forum. All are equally welcome and just as much a part of the 'family' | Who organises the meetings? | Each meeting is arranged by an individual or small group of members. Meetings are typically anywhere between 3-7 days long with a ride out arranged most days. Please note however, that we are not a travel agency and although we all do everything we can to help each other in the event of problems, this cannot be taken for granted and therefore such things as health and breakdown insurance are highly recommended | How do I get to the meetings | We would strongly advise going on your bike :-). Seriously, we make no arrangements on your behalf but we normally discuss the options with each other beforehand and our members do tend to meet up 'en route' and travel in groups where possible | What acommodation is chosen for the meetings? | This is normally decided by the organiser of the meeting. Normally we stay in a hotel, mobile homes or occasionally camp. Sometimes we find a site that has a choice of accomodation | Do I need any particular brand or size of Motorcycle? | Although we would probably recommend a motorcycle of at least 500cc, we have no rules or regulations regarding type of motorcycle | How much experience do I need to join the club and go to the meetings? | In terms of joining the club, we don't insist that you even have a bike but it would be a good idea. As far as the meetings are concerned, we wouldn't recommend that inexperienced riders join the club and start riding across Europe on their own. However, there may be a meeting close to you or even some members to ride locally with or even maybe go on a weekend away somewhere to gain valuable experience |

Firstly a warm MTCE welcome to all our guests and visitors.
We have recently decided to open up a small area of our forum to non members. We would love to take the opportunity of meeting new potential members and other motorcycle enthusiasts alike. We are hoping to provide an opportunity for all our guests to ask questions about the club and hopefully interact with some of our established members
While we do invite you to post in this guestbook area, we ask you to keep threads to subjects related to the MTCE and prospective membership only as there are many other forums out there where you can discuss other biking issues.

In the name of the Motorcycle Touring Club Europe we like to welcome you here on the Forum and in our Club ! History The MTCE was founded in May, 2005. The idea was created by former Members of a "brand driven" community. First Meeting was held in Isny, Allgäu, Germany. This was the place where many of us decided to run an independent Club from motorcycle brands. In September 2006 we celebrated our first "MTCE Country Meeting". Meeting was held in Poland. Thanks again to our Polish Members which provided us unforgettable moments in their Country. It was just great ! In June, 2007 we celebrated our second "MTCE Country Meeting" in Ireland. In combination with the fantastic landshape, very pleasant people and of course a great prepared Meeting with spectacular trips, it was another highlight in our Club life. Big "Thank you" to our Irish Members ! Every year we have three MTCE Meetings - along our Country Meeting we have two other Meetings. One as a "Season Opening Meeting" and one as an "End of Season Meeting" MTCE Meeting - October 2006 in the Dolomites Croatia Meeting 2008 Netherlands 2009 - Season Opening in Zeeland Scotland - June 2009 Season Opening - Allgäu Mountains, Germany - May 2010 Midsummer Meeting - Estonia - June 2010 [glow=red,2,300]More information you may find in the MTCE Member Section. You have to register yourself as a Member first. Don`t worry, its for free. If you have not been logged in on the forum for three months, you will be contacted to check your future interest in the MTCE.
We also look forward and will enjoy to see you at any of our meetings around Europe. Hopefully some of them will be located in places not too far away from your home!
MTCE is a Club which is organised and is based upon volontary efforts like organising meetings in different countries and keeping the forum in good shape. Everyone is warm welcomed to give a little support in these matters.
